Operation Anthropoid with its course and consequences is the most heroic and tragic story in modern Czech history. The Czechoslovak paratroopers who assassinated the Reichsprotektor Reinhard Heydrich in May 1942 and died in the crypt of St. Cyril and Methodius Church in Prague city center are seen as heroes today.
