This 8-Day Wilderness Waterway Expedition follows the famous and remote 99-mile waterway through the entire length of the Everglades. This kayaking tour was described in an Outside Magazine article titled “Don’t Write Off the Gulf”. This story referred to the fact that kayaking in the Everglades was unaffected by the infamous 2010 BP Deepwater Horizon oil spill.
On this tour, you will paddle the entire 99-mile length of the Wilderness Waterway from Flamingo in the south to Everglades City in the north. The trip is famous for allowing a complete eight day immersion in the wilderness backcountry with no access between the put-in and take-out. Such a vast inaccessible wilderness is available no where else in the eastern United States. As noted in Outside Magazine, you will see Everglades National Park and nobody else on this trip!
The Wilderness Waterway tour is designed only for very fit and experienced kayakers. It has up to 19 miles and 10 hours paddling per day with limited breaks. The trip also requires breaking and moving camp every day with no rest days. Proof of experience and a doctor’s release may be required.
