Some of the most beautiful sights are the West’s city center – São Pedro de Alcântara, Santa Catarina and Santa Justa are just some of them. Come see them all in this fascinating photo tour.
The São Pedro de Alcântara was where the first German-speaking colony was established – receiving the Portuguese name of Colônia São Pedro de Alcântara.
Santa Catarina is the area in which the São Pedro de Alcântara is located, and is characterized by a diverse historical, sociological and cultural influence.
Santa Justa is the area where the Santa Justa Lift is located – also known as the Carmo Lift (or in Portuguese: Elevador do Carmo). The Santa Justa lift was designed by Raoul Mesnier du Ponsard, an engineer – the elevator itself consists of a metallic tower, observation platform, walkway and base. Come on this photo tour to hear more about the creation and history of these areas!
