Trip Info

The home of the famous architect Andrea Palladio, Vicenza is a popular tourist destination. This is the best city to thoroughly understand and appreciate the Italian Renaissance. The rich heritage and history of the country and the people dates back to the 17th century. This five-hour tour will delve deep into the past.

Begin the day with your guide exploring the city centre square Piazza dei Signori. Palladio designed two buildings that overlook the centre. The Basilica Palladiana is now used as an expedition hall. The Loggia del Capitanato palazzo is now used by town Council. Around the centre, lines streets of houses with a Venetian Gothic theme. In fact, the attraction to Vicenza usually surrounds the Venetian Villas located just outside of the city. Most of the buildings were designed by Palladio himself. The grounds of the Villa Almerico Capra are open to the public everyday but to tour the inside, you must visit only on Wednesdays and Saturdays. The Villa Valmarana ai Nani is truly a treat as this art museum showcases murals by Tiepolo.

A visit to the Olympia Theatre will give you the breathtaking art of the original scenography of the first performance in 1585. Another long-standing building important to Italian history is the Church of Monte Berico. It sits atop of a hill overlooking Vicenza. A Roman Catholic church, it is a shrine to the Blessed Virgin Mary. Here, you will learn history through the combination of arts and faith.

Your guide will be able to direct you to local places to sample the fine Italian cuisine and wine! A customized itinerary can be created for you by the guide to ensure your trip is to your liking.

Your adventure awaits!
