Join us for a 5 day eco tour and trek through the Usambara Mountains. Learn about the ecosystem of this mountain range as you trek through numerous types of terrain, including the rainforest. In addition to immersing yourself in the beautiful nature of Tanzania, you will also visit several traditional villages, where you will learn of each community’s way of life, and embrace the culture, with the help of your guide. This tour is an absolute must for travelers that really want to connect to the grassroots of a region!
Day One: 4-6 Hrs.
Drive from Lushoto to the village of Magamba , then trek from Magamba through the rain forest, farm land, and traditional villages, to Lukozi for overnight at a hostel. You will have the chance to see animals like monkeys and reptiles like chameleons.
Day two: 4-6 hrs
After breakfast, start walking from the campsite to the Rangwi convent via traditional villages, farming land, and nice landscapes. Enjoy an overnight stay at Rangwi Hostel.
Day three: 4-6 hrs
You have the option of either climbing to the Mzoghoti peak early in the morning around five or helping the nuns with some activities at the convent like harvesting, cooking, washing dishes and watering the garden, or take a short walk around the village.
Day four: 4-6 hrs
After breakfast, we will walk from the convent through different villages, where we will visit pottery women and enjoy some nice views. We will arrive in Mtae late in the afternoon. Spend overnight at the Guest House with a spectacular view. Later, walk around the village of Mtae , and watch the sunset.
Day five: 1.5-2 hrs
We will catch the transport early in the morning, around 4:00 or 4:30, and travel back to Lushoto, where we will leave our bags. After the breakfast we will walk to Irente view point. This walk starts at approximately 10:00 a.m., and takes about 4 hours.
