Trip Info

Our walking tour regards the old city center of Agrigento, on the hill of Girgenti that was the Acropolis of the Greek town, and the place where Arabs and Normans lived. We could follow the history of the city in a large span of time, from the fifth century AD until today.

Starting from the highest point of the hill we will discover the most important monuments: the Cathedral, the church of S. Maria dei Greci that was built on the ruins of a Greek Temple dedicated to Athena and then we will reach the Monastery. The Church of the Monastery was decorated by G. Serpotta and is very beautiful. A cloister nun will explain to us the life inside the Monastery and we could by some almond and pistachio sweets made by the nuns still today, following a medieval tradition. It is a nice experience of relationship with the locals.

I look forward to guiding you.

Your adventure awaits!
