Trip Info

Tour Tangier! This 5-day desert trek will give you many opportunities to experience the real Morocco. Your adventure begins with Fes, one of the four imperial cities and the religious and cultural center of Morocco. Its university is the oldest in the world, established before the University of Oxford or Bologna. It is well-known for the studies of Arabic and Islam and has the most valuable library in Africa. The medina in Fes is the oldest and largest inhabited medieval cities in the world, containing no less than 9400 streets.

Your tour guide will take you desert travelling through various villages including Ifrane and Erfoud. Ifrane is known as the Moroccan Switzerland because of the architecture of its buildings. Located at 1,630 meters altitude above sea level, it has two ski resorts. As a city founded by the French in the 1920s as a destination for their holidays, it is still well known for accommodating young students. Do not forget to take a photo with the “Atlas Lion”, carved in stone by a Second World War prisoner.

Along your journey you will be amazed by the Erg Chebb dunes and you may photograph oases and interact with camels. Experience how locals live in the middle of the desert and enjoy a traditional dish in the village of Khamelia! The sunrise across the Sahara on the way to Rissani is one of the highlights of the tour. In Rissani, you can stroll around and buy some authentic handcrafts and food.

On the way to Tangier, you will be guided to the Caves of Hercules if you have enough time. The legend says Hercules rested in the cave after separating Europe and Africa. It was discovered in 1878 and is one of the most frequently visited places in North Morocco for its archaeological value and the magnificent views of the Atlantic.
