Trip Info

Climb the highest and most famous peak in Morocco and north Africa on this Toubkal 2-day trek. Jebel Toubkal stands almost 4167 m above the sea. You will need to arrive in Marrakech and stay in a Hotel (we can organize airport transfers and accomodation on your behalf). Early the next morning we leave bustling Marrakech to Toubkal in our own private transport for a 1.5 hour journey to the foothills of the World renowned High Atlas mountain range. Imlil is the start point of our trip to reach Toubkal refuge, then the summit of Mount Toubkal at 4167m which is the highest peak in Morocco and in all of North Africa.

Overview of the trek:

Total Duration: 2 days
Period: All times of year
Trek Grade: Strenuous (good physical condition required)
Max Elevation: 4167m
Distance: 17 km
Accommodation: Refuge or camping

Day 1: Marrakech – Imlil village (1740m) – Mountain Refuge (3200m): Awaking early and refreshed, after an early breakfast we leave Marrakech in our own private transport for a 1.5 hour drive to Imlil the starting point of our trip. Here Trek up from Imlil, crossing the valley floor and ascending the valley side, arriving at Sidi Chamharouch for 11′s, traditional Berber Whisky (Mint Tea). Refreshed, we continue ascending along a new, hanging valley and after a couple of hours catch our first glimpse of our target, the Neltner Mountain Refuge at 3,207m. This is our ‘Base Camp’ for the night. 5 hours trek.

Day 2: Mountain Refuge (3200m) – Toubkal summit (4167m) – Imlil village – Marrakech: Summit Day! We take an early breakfast and set off on our ‘Summit Day’ Jebel Toubkal 4,167m. It’s no easy start, we need to ascend the steep main valley side, but taking it nice and easy, the ground levels out somewhat, and we continue our gradual ascent. After about 4 hours we make it! What a feeling, and what magnificent views!! After due celebrations, photos, and well earned rest and picnic we return to Base Camp, then trek back down via Sidi Chamharouch to Imlil Village. We continue on by private vehicle to your hotel in Marrakech. 8 hours trek. If required we will book your hotel room & dinner in bustling Marrakech.
