Trip Info
Over the three days on this desert tour, we will explore the Kasbah, the Sahara and regions of Ait Ben Haddou, Ouarzazate, Skoura, Boulmanes Dades, the Gorge of Dades and Toghra, Jebel Saghro, Draa Valley, Zagora, Mhamid, Erg Chegaga, Lake Iriqui and Tazenarht.
The first day will cover 220 km with 30 km being a trekking route. After breakfast, we depart towards the south along the route Tizi’n Tichka. We will stop for lunch and visit the Kasbah of Pacha Glaoui in Telouet before continuing on the caravan track. This salt track is 29 km and takes about three hours as it runs along the valley of Assif Ounila. We will have overnight at Ait Ben Haddou.
In the morning, we start a 300 km journey as we take the road to the massive courtyard of the Anti-Atlas, to join Agdz and the Draa Valley. We will follow it to Zagora by the western slope in the middle of villages. As we continue by road and track Tagounite ben Ali, we will visit madrasas and potters, until M’Hamid. We stop in the village center and in the palm groves of Draa then travel in the Sahara to the dunes of Erg Chegaga. See the bivouac at Erg Chegaga and spend the night in a Bedouin tent at the foot of the big dune.
After breakfast, we start the 400 km in the Sahara towards the Lake Iriki and M’daouar Kebir. Enjoy as we explore the discovery of an open-pit fossil site, track-alternating landscapes on the sand on the lake. Once we arrive at Foum Zuigid, we will cross the massive Tazenarht Anti-Atlas, a landscape between mountain and oasis. Lunch will be at the village of Tazenarht before we head to Tizi’n Tichka Pass to return to Marrakech.
