Trip Info

Learn about the history of the violent rise and fall of the regime and see the historical buildings where the action took place. You will visit the spot where Europe’s last dictator, Nicolae Ceausescu, gave his final speech, the Revolution Square, the Secret Police’s headquarters and the Palace of Parliament, the world’s second largest administrative building.

Enjoy exploring Bucharest, a city once called the Little Paris, a city that could have been much more than that. You will see during the tour, areas perfectly depicting the opposition of two eras of the massive Communist Civic Center, an empty shell admired mostly by foreign tourists and the beautifully restored Old City with its Belle Epoque perfume.

Along the way, you’ll see the major squares and buildings where the action took place during the anti-communist revolution. Visit the centers of socialist power, the massive structures of the Civic Center symbolizing the might of the regime and also the places that suffered deeply during communism.

The tour is more than a visual experience as it’s a story that takes you through 45 years of communism, allowing you to see beyond Bucharest’s colorful present. You will learn about Stalin and his monstrous enslavement, the genocide of KGB’s Secret Police, the Siberian deportation of farmers who refused to donate their lands to the state, the eradication of culture, private property and free press. To top it off, we’ll bring along old photos to see how the streets used to look, how people dressed-up, worked or lived.
