Join a cultural dinner with some local residents to gain insight and experience northern cultures, learn about the way of life then and now. Listen to great stories while enjoying local northern food such as whale meat and blubber known as maktak and caribou, known as tuktu. Sample dry meat known as mipku, berries, moose, duck and other northern foods. You will learn how your meal was harvested and prepared out on the land and how we are keeping those traditions alive.
We will also see historical artifacts and tools and the modern updates of these tools. Enjoy a showing of traditional garments, local arts and crafts and fur pelts. You will be taught the importance of survival to the local culture, how the items were made and how they are used today.
