Trip Info

This unique beginners course is suitable for those new to photography or new to street photography. This photo tour is also perfect for those who have had some success and want to move up a gear.

You will learn how to develop a street photographer’s eye by learning how to spot a photo opportunity in an everyday street scene. You will overcome any fear of photographing strangers and using your camera to record everyday life. We teach how to react quickly to changing scenes, ensuring that you get the shot, become invisible and shoot your environment quietly and unobtrusively. You will understand your rights and and legal position as a photographer. There is much to learn on how to react positively if people are challenging or offended.

Based on four intensive sessions over two full days, the course balances classroom sessions with practical shooting. We meet at 10 a.m. for coffee, introductions, tuition and a thorough briefing before setting off onto the streets to put the theory into practice.
Throughout the day, you will receive a significant amount of one-to-one tuition and coaching from a full-time working professional photojournalist.

We’ll find somewhere quiet for a lunch break, with a group discussion, at around 1 p.m. before hitting the streets again for the second structured photographic session. We will finish the formal part of the day at around 5 p.m. with drinks, a thorough debrief and a further Q&A session.

After the course, you will be encouraged to keep in touch through our alumni network on Facebook and Flickr. We’d love to see how your skills develop!
