Visit “Ancient Britain,” as we explore Stonehenge and Avebury, on this heritage-filled sightseeing tour. Both Avebury and Stonehenge are not only two of the premier prehistoric sites in the United Kingdom, but two of the world’s oldest monuments as well.
We will depart Cambridge at 8:00 am, and travel to Avebury. Avebury, which pre-dates Stonehenge, was the spiritual center of the world for the people who built Stonehenge. It is an enormous henge monument. Your guide will also take you to Silbury Hill, the largest pre-historic man-made hill in all of Europe.
Next on the itinerary is Stonehenge, a site which needs little introduction. A place filled with mystery and myth, you will know you are standing in a special place just by the feeling that radiates through your body. It is the center of complex prehistoric monuments believed to be built over several centuries as a graveyard for the Neolithic Man’s ancestors. Your guide will share its rich history with you, and show you how the stones align with the stars. Your guide will take you to the Stonehenge Visitor Center, where you will obtain a fascinating insight into this heritage site.
