Trip Info
This trekking tour will take you to amazing places that few tourists have ventured. It is said that the Danakil Depression began in this region. To promote the positive aspects and beauty, this trip will showcase the spectacular, eye-catching colors of the sulphur springs and the mystical desert points more than 100 meters below sea level.
On the first day, we fly to the city of Mekelle and drive to Hamed Ela via Berehale. At Berehale, we are joined by police scouts and road guides along with permits for the Afar Region. We will have dinner and an overnight camping stay at Hamed Ela.
After breakfast, we travel to Dallol for a half-day tour. This place is located at 116 meters below sea level and is the lowest point on the African continent. We will camp in Aba-Ala.
In the morning, we have an early start to drive to Dodom. Upon our arrival, we will have a rest before beginning our trek. With camels carrying our luggage, our trekking tour will take us to the crater rim of the Erta Ale volcano. Enjoy overnight camping at Erta-Ale.
We will rise early and hike back to Dodom. Enjoy a rest before having breakfast and travelling to Mekelle for a late afternoon flight to Addis Ababa.
Your adventure awaits!
