Trip Info

Tantalize your taste buds on this private guided Setúbal region wine trip from Lisbon. You’ll stop in a pair of the region’s cellars and a special liqueur producer. Here you will taste fine locally produced wines and liqueurs, and marvel at the spectacular mountain scenery.

On this full-day tour you’ll travel first to Azeitão, an area that’s well known for its wines and cheese. You’ll visit some of the region’s top wine cellars and taste fine wines.

Our first stop will be at the renowned wine cellars of José Maria da Fonseca, where you’ll learn about the winery’s history, since 1834, and sample 2 of its wines.

Next you’ll visit Quinta de Alcube, a wine cellar owned by a family for over a century. It is a traditional cellar that produces only 300,000 litters per year. Here you will taste 6 of their wines. These wines are only sold directly to customers, making it difficult to find in shops.
Your third and final tasting stop is at another family owned cellar, Lima Fortuna, where you’ll learn what they produce and taste the famous Azeitão cheese, hand made sweets, and also 4 liqueurs that are made from a 300-year-old recipe.

In addition to all the tastings, you’ll marvel at the views of the Arrábida Natural Park, mountain range and its history.

As seen on TripAdvisor: “Wine journalists visit of Setubal”
The Tourist authority of Setubal invited twelve international wine journalist, members of FIJEV, to cover the Second Iberian Wine Festival. The tour was conducted by Joao Dickmann of Takinguthere. The special care and attention was evident from the moment that I was picked up by Joao at the airport , during the trip and to the departure. As southern Portugal is concerned Joao is a walking encyclopedia. He posses an incredible talent to explain in a way that would be understood by the listener.Being a tour guide myself I greatly appreciated that.In addition he has a perfect control of the English language ( among others).

Due to Joao I left Setubal with a good understanding of its Geography, climate and history.

The combination of caring, good planning, great knowledge. patience and ability to communicate renders Takinguthere a perfect company for a tour in that region.

I was lucky to attend the group guided and cared by João Dickmann, owner of “Takinguthere”. Having such huge experience traveling over the world I would like to say only a few: always on time ( sometimes 5 minutes before), all wishes fulfilled, some extra attractions presented, comfort… absolutely EXCELLENT service! Hospitable, patient, friendly and always smiling Jao is incredible organizer and guide. Strongly recommended!

As seen on TripAdvisor: “Excellent and knowledgeable tour guide”
Joao Dickmann is that perfect combination of knowledgeable tour guide and beautiful human being who cares about the people he shows around Portugal. It was a delight getting to know the Setubal region and Joao. Nothing was too difficult or inconvenient for him. I recommend Joao (John) highly for his professionalism, courtesy and wide knowledge of Portugal. Thank you, Joao.

As seen on TripAdvisor: “Wine and nature” On our visit to Lisbon we wanted to do something different, so we choose to go south to the Setubal region. We choose this tour because of the wine tasting through various wineries. Besides this they took us through the Arrabida mountain with amazing views. For the end Joao took us to a liqueur maker near Palmela that was very very pleasant. There we tasted the regional cheese, bread and jam. A real experience. To do something different, go with takinguthere.

As seen on TripAdvisor: “Great Wine-tour” Our hotel recommended this tour. As we are wine lovers, we chose the wine tour in the south of Lisbon area. The tour was very nice. Being a small group it felt more personal. Joao brought us around Setubal and Azeitao, where we visited 4 very different and amazing wine cellars. The surprise was, that the tour was not just about wine, also about the nature of the Arrabida Mountains and all its history. Joao ( the guide) was really knowledgeable. We highly recommend this tour. Really good!
