Trip Info
Gain a better understanding and appreciation for the local people as we tour local markets, artist workshops and farms on this heritage tour. You will also have the opportunity to learn first-hand how local beer, chicha, is created.
We will venture away from the usual tourist sites to be immersed in the local culture. You will see how locals live and work their land. We will visit a local market in Urubamba. Taste some of the many fruits and vegetables in the Sacred Valley and learn about the ingredients needed to make chicha. This is a corn beer that has been an important part of Peruvian culture since Inca times.
Enjoy meeting the artists at work at a workshop and gallery of an amazing local potter, Pablo Seminario. Observe artisans work and have the chance to buy beautiful ceramics.
We will then drive 20 minutes to visit to a farm. Enjoy a tour of the farmlands, cut alfalfa to feed the guinea pigs and see first-hand how chicha is made. This will be followed by a picnic lunch overlooking spectacular views.
Visit a local chicheria to taste chicha and play Sapo, a traditional Inca game.
