Trip Info

Retezat Mountains is a natural reservation park since 1931 and is something different among the Romanian Mountains. Possessing typical glacial relief, with valleys, lakes and glacial domes but also has many gorges, caves and cliffs. Retezat Mountains amazes the visitors with 80 beautiful lakes, among them the largest, Bucura Lake and the deepest, Zanoaga Lake.

We begin this trekking tour from Oradea and travel to Deva, Hateg and Lacul Gura Apei. We’ll stay overnight in tent or chalet, depending on weather conditions. The next day, we head to Pelegii Meadow for an overnight stay in a tent. The third day we see us trek to Bucura Lake.

Day four we will travel to Judele Peak, Lacul Zanoaga and return to Bucura Lake. In the morning, we leave for Chalet Gentiana and continue on to Chalet Pietrele. On the sixth day, we trek to Lolaia Peak, Peak Retezat, Valley Stinsoara and return to Chalet Pietrele. The next day will have us travelling pass Lake Galesu, Peak Papusa, Peak Peleaga, Lake Bucura, Chalet Gentiana and stay again at Chalet Pietrele.

Enjoy a day of relaxation on the eighth day as we have a campfire and party. The next morning will see us descend on Pietrelor Valley, Nucsoara, Ohaba de sub Piatra and return to Oradea.
