Trip Info

A truly wonderful experience across the Tuscan Countryside. A private tour directly from the port and into one of the most beautiful landscapes in Italy, crossing the Chianti region, we’ll be arriving to Siena. After lunch, and a glass of typical Chianti wine, we will leave for San Gimignano, declared World’s Architectural Heritage by the Unesco. The village was named after the Holy Bishop of Modena, St. Gimignano, who contributed to save the village from the barbarian hordes. Among some of the most notorious episodes in the history of San Gimignano, is the visit of the famous Dante Alighieri, writer of “La Divina Commedia” visited the village as the Ambassador of the Guelph League in Tuscany, in the 14th century. We will visit the Duomo, consecrated in 1148 and adorned with valuable Sienese School frescoes like : “The Old and the New Testament” and “The Last Judgement” We will also get to see the great Walls the surround the town, the 14 towers still remaining, the main square “Piazza della Cisterna” -famous for the Well- Apart from its famous Vernaccia wine, San Gimignano’s many shops offer the products of typical Tuscan artisans, marked by the skill and tradition handed down from father to son, from boar sausages to cheeses, from terracotta to hand-made pottery, to leather goods.
