Trip Info

Ponte de Lima is well-known for being one of the oldest villages in Portugal, whose history is imbued with its heritage, environment and tradition. Being one of the villages with an abundance of multicolor flowers, its cuisine comprises rice, the unquestionable sarrabulho, the famous white wine and taste buds. Nevertheless, it is also recognized for being a place of passage and pilgrimage to Santiago Compostela, current concentration of religious tourism. Allied to this rurality, tranquility and abundant vegetation, Ponte de Lima holds Rural Tourism dedicated to the nature lovers. Viana do Castelo, the name of the region concerns the legend of a shy princess, named Ana, who fell in love with a young man who could see her from the other bank of the river, screaming with joy and satisfaction. With a strong gastronomy with a typical component of Minho, there are the traditional festivities like the Roses Vila Franca do Lima, the festival of Our Lady of Agony and Ethnographic Costume Party to being dedicated to former female costumes of this region. As attractions, Viana do Castelo encompasses the Convent of St. Francis Mount, Fort Santiago da Barra, the famous Eiffel Bridge and the famous Hospital Ship Gil Eanes, as well as a full set of monuments ranging from the Renaissance Portuguese to the contemporary period.
