Keawe Adventures – :
As seen on TripAdvisor: The tour gave us the ability to see things we were interested in with that special touch. Makani gave it that genuine Hawaiian feel. He is informative with respect to the history and culture and just fun to be with. Even though there are many tours to Peal Harbor, I think it was special because of his experience in the Marines. He was able to give insight into the memorial in addition to the historical context. We then headed to Chinatown, as we requested, take a hike to Kaniakapupu, the summer palace of King Kamehameha III, via a quiet path thru a bamboo “forest”. I mentioned I would like to learn how to paddle board and he made it happen. I was a bit hesitant and nervous about it, but he totally put us at ease. My somewhat squeamish, not outdoor kids LOVED it. It was a highlight for them and we were able to spot some turtles up close. Lastly, he fulfilled their day by taking them for shaved ice and my husband, garlic shrimp. It was more than I can expect in any single day.
Keawe Adventures – :
As seen on TripAdvisor: We hired Keawe to take us to Pearl Harbor. We wanted a personal tour and we didn’t want to get there for 630 to queue in a line for the tickets! Or be shown around in a large party waiting for everyone else. We had a perfect day as a family of four, with two adult sons, aged 23 and 21. Madani was polite, very knowledgable and immediately built a great rapport with all of us. The tour was built to fit our personal needs/wants and Makani was very helpful in helping us understand the history and the issues of this incredible site. As a retired serving Officer he was also able to make it very personal in helping us understand what these guys went through. I could not recommend him highly enough. If you want to visit Pearl Harbor, this is the best way to do it
Keawe Adventures – :
As seen on TripAdvisor: We contacted Makani of Keawe Adventures and explained that we wanted to tour Pearl Harbour but didn’t want to do this with dozens of other people. And, we didn’t wish to get up very early and spend considerable time on a bus going to and from the venues. But, we wanted to see and under- what had occurred over 70 years ago. He said…”no problem, leave it to me.” Well, what he arranged was perfect. Kate Bodendorfer, our guide, arranged to meet us at our hotel at a time that was mutually convenient. She altered the typical schedule to ensure we saw everything despite the high wind warnings which later prevented the boat from sailing. Kate has a great deal of information which she shared with us in a manner that gave life to the event and enabled us to better understand what occurred on that fateful day. Highly recommend Makani and his team.
