Explore the magnificent region of the Upper Zambezi River on this overnight canoeing tour. The canoe trail has small rapids and at their peak are classed as Grade 2. The trail passes along the banks of the Zambezi National Park where you have a good chance of seeing elephants, buffalo, impala, kudzu, hippo and crocodiles. Bird life is prolific as 50 various species can be spotted.
Your canoeing tour begins with being picked up from your accommodation and transferred to our office for check in. Enjoy a game drive from Savanna to the canoe start point. It is located 12 km upriver of the Chundu campsite, where you will be camping for the night.
Upon arrival, you will receive a safety briefing before practicing your paddling skills. Then, it is time for the canoe safari. Lunch is served on an island in the middle of the Zambezi and consists of cold meats and salads. Enjoy the surrounding beauty and see various species of wildlife along the way.
Once we reach the campsite, spend the evening enjoying the ambiance of the wilderness followed by dinner and an evening by the campfire. You will be sleeping in tents overnight at the Chundu campsite, located on the banks of the Zambezi River in the Zambezi National Park.
In the morning, you will be woken by the early rays of sunshine. Enjoy tea or coffee served with a full English breakfast on the banks of the river. After breakfast, we begin another day of canoeing. This day is the same stretch of river used for the full day canoe trips with lunch served on an island. In the afternoon, we paddle to the take-out point by the mine fields.
Enjoy soft drinks and beer before being transferred back to your lodging.
