Hike and Surf on Oahu’s North Shore. Our Guides will take you to see the beaches and fabled surf breaks of the North Shore from a ridgeline vantage point. We will then go to an ocean break that meets your skill level and our experienced surf instructors will help you catch your own waves. Advanced surf instruction is also available.
The hike begins at the world famous surf break called Pipeline where the guide will give you a short tour of the popular surf breaks. The beginning of the hike enters a zigzag of trees and high grass till it reaches the base of the mountain. The hike begins to climb for about 10-15 minutes getting steep at places, these spots have ropes for stability strung through the trees.
As the hike climbs you’ll pass a natural cave in the side of the mountain and some very beautiful and famous banyan trees. The top opens up to an expansive view of the world famous north shore; a little known ridge where professional photographers go to get their shots of the pro surfers. We will arrive at an old WWII bunker where the photo ops don’t get any better with views from sunset beach all the way to Keiki beach and world class surf spots right before your eyes.
The surf location is based on your skill level, yet we have a great location for beginners that provides a consistent small-wave experience perfect for first-timers and beginners. Its a great place for learning to surf and also a really nice beach to just relax and spend you day at. If anyone is on babysitting duty or not surfing they can sit and relax on soft white sand while the others go out to surf.
The beginner surf lesson starts with a small demonstration on land about proper surf technique and etiquette. we paddle out together and catch waves with the instructor by your side coaching you along the way. The beginner waves break in close to shore. The waves are generally very mild year-round and good for all ages and skill levels.
Advanced surf lesson locations will depend on the surf but will be preferably on the north shore. We will pick a location that safely challenges the student to be better through wave recognition, selection, and surf technique while following proper local etiquette.
