Explore the mountains and valleys with this trekking tour of Mount Toubkal. The range includes Jbel Toubkal, which at 4,167 metres, is the highest in the range and lies in Toubkal National Park. The range serves as a weather system barrier in Morocco separating the Sahara’s climatic influences from the more Mediterranean climate to the north, resulting in dramatic changes in temperature across the range. In the higher elevations, snow falls regularly, allowing winter sports. Snow lasts well into late spring in the High Atlas, mostly on the northern faces of the range.
After an early breakfast at the hotel in Marrakech, our driver will pick you up and take you to the heart of Morocco’s High Atlas Mountains. The trek starts from Imlil, a small Berber village where you will meet the team who will accompany you during this amazing adventure. The muleteers will deal with your luggage, food and all other equipment that we usually provide for our clients. You start the walk with an experienced mountain guide through the Berber villages, following a mule track, which will take you to the mountain hut via the shrine Sidi Chamhrouch. Here, you will have your picnic lunch prepared in advance by our cook. After lunch, continue towards the refuge and have a tasty mint tea upon arrival, while you will enjoy the scenic mountain view surrounding the base camp.
Wake up early to breakfast around 5:00 A.M. and start the ascent climb step by step until you get to the point above the hut where you have a short break. After walking up the hill, you will be able to see all the High Atlas Mountains, stunning view of the green valleys and Berber villages. A break on the summit will allow time to take pictures and enjoy the view before heading down to the hut. After lunch, you will walk down hill towards Imlil by the same route.
