Trip Info

This 9 days trekking tour goes along the scenic route that develops around the Monte Rosa, touching the picturesque locations of its valleys, both Italian and Swiss, in a circular path.

You will meet your guide at a prearranged location and depart for trekking. You begin hiking to Pastore hut, in Alta Valsesia Natural Park to Turlo pass. At Turlo , you will begin the descent that runs through the Quarazza valley till the Fairy Lake. A wide trail reaches the village of Motta and then Macugnaga.

On the second day, we enter Switzerland. This day will be spent traveling from Macugnaga Alpe Bill salt and then continuing up to Rifugio Oberto. You will soon reach the Passo del Monte Moro and begin the descent in the Saas Valley to reach Lake Mattmark. We continue up to Saas Fee to finish this stage.

The third day sees us climbing to Lammugrabe before descending to hike to Rote Biel. A gradual descent enables it to reach 1,615 meters in Grachen. From here to Zermatt, the path is very clear and full of signs. The spectacular view of the Weisshorn indicates the arrival in Grachen.

The fourth day begins with a gentle climb that starts from Grachen. Soon, the slope becomes significant, until reaching the 2600 meters of Galemberg as we head downhill to the Refuge Europah├╝tte. This is part of the Europaweg Trail.

Your fifth day is also part of the Europaweg trail as we head to Rifugio Domh├╝tte and to Alpe Tasch. At this point, Zermatt is near.

The sixth day is the most mountaineering on the entire trail. From Zermatt, we venture up the Furggbach valley to Rifugio Gandegghutte to get to the Theodule Colle. This point is the border between Switzerland and Italy. We go a few meters further up the Rifugio Theodule.

The stage of day seven is almost entirely in Italian territory and begins at Rifugio Theodule with the descent into a landscape characterized by numerous mountain lakes of particularly intense color. We will climb to Colle Superiore of the Cime Bianche and go into the Valley of Courtod to descend into the Valle d’Ayas up to Fiery and St. Jacques. We end the day with the ascent to Resy.

The eighth day begins at the Rifugio Guide Frachey with the hike to Colle di Bettaforca. The route then descends to Gressoney, climb to Alpe Gabiet and end at the Refugio Gabiet.

The last day starts at Rifugio Gabiet and we hike to the Corno del Camoscio peak before descending towards Alagna. Once in Alagna, we can celebrate the arrival and the fantastic nine days around His Majesty: the Monte Rosa!
