Trip Info

On clear days McHugh Ridge offers magnificent vistas of the Chugach State Park, Turnagain Arm, the Tordrillo Mountains across Turnagain Arm, and even the Alaska Range with Denali. Once you are above treeline you get a chance to explore dry alpine tundra and a great variety of alpine flowers. You will gain about 1,000 feet of elevation on a narrow and, at times, rocky trail.

The Powerline Valley Trails follow South Fork Campbell Creek and offer a variety of wildflowers. With its lush vegetation, it provides chances to view birds, moose, and bear. The hike offers spectacular sights of the surrounding mountain ridges. The wide trail gains some elevation of up to 200 feet and facilitates a variety of users.
