This writing retreat workshop will explore the relationship between memory and creativity. To the ancient Greeks, memory was a goddess known as Mnemosyne, mother of the Muses. We also know Hamlet called his memory, the book and volume of the brain.
Your retreat leader will be Marion Reynolds, a former teacher and lecturer in English, Drama and Media in Ireland and the UK. She has contributed articles, reviews and interviews to Irish newspapers for many years. She enjoys writing short stories and just had her first novel, A Soldier’s Wife, published.
You will be encouraged to tap into your memory and use it to fuel and enhance your writing. The workshop will include keeping a daily journal, writing exercises and one-to-one mentoring. It will encourage you to make full use of the beautiful surroundings of Anam Cara to free your creative spirit.
It will also include daily readings that demonstrate the use of memory to enhance creativity from writers such as Colm McCann and James Joyce.
