Ouarzazat – which “Ouar” means without, and “Zazat” means noise – is a historical place located 200 km southeast of Marrakech. It was built in the 1920s by the French Protectorate as a military base. Cinematography and movies are well known in Ouarzazat, since the city owns 2 big studios. Aside from that, the city is also the cradle of the White Palace, a grouping of buildings and structures made out of mud and is surrounded by a defensive wall with fortification towers. The White Palace has been recorded as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987.
Your tour of Ouarzazat begins after having your breakfast at 8 am. You can stop by the high pass, as well as the Berber Villages, and take as many pictures as you like. 30 km before Ouarzazat, you will get to visit Ait Ben Haddou Village. When you get in to Ouarzazat, you will have a chance to visit Kasbah Taourirt and the Cinema Studios. The tour ends after lunch, where you will make your trip back to Marrakech.
