I don’t usually go on tours when I travel as I like to explore things on my own but a friend of mine recommended Richard at Eye Prefer Paris Tours & I took a leap of faith & booked his Marais tour. I had been to the Marais twice before for short periods but didn’t know that much about the area. Richard knows the Marais like the back of his hand: he showed me all these out-of-the way streets, alleyways and secret passages. My favorite part of the tour was a series of hidden courtyards by St. Paul that had the neatest design and antique shops where I bought a very special antique vase. Richard has a great sense of humor and joked that a mandatory stop on the tour was an award-winning bakery, so we stopped and I had the best raspberry tart that I have ever eaten. I also learned the fascinating history of the Marais. I had such a great time I booked the pastry & chocolate tour a few days later where I tasted to- die-for macaroons & chocolates. The highlight was a chocolate shop that had life-size chocolate sculptures of animals. Taking a tour with Richard and Eye Prefer Paris Tours is a MUST!

Nine new friends of mine and myself went on a spur of the moment walking tour with Richard. He and I knew each other back in NY before he realized his dream to move to Paris. We had stayed in touch on and off and I knew about his tours, just not really what they were all about. Well, it was an unforgettable three hours. Richard showed us the beautiful area of the Mareis, shared stories with such love and passion and marvelous details – I could have listend to him all day. VIsiting historic court yards and squares, hearing historic poliical and societal stories, as well as a wonderful blend of meeting local shop owners who sell their own goods – no massed produced mall shopping but shop owners who have a marvelous joy of showing and sharing their goods. Each one of our group was thrilled and delighted with the tour (and, there were some advanced world travelors among us).

As seen on TripAdvisor: This time last week we spent an amazing day with Richard wandering the streets of the Marais and savouring the delights of Paris markets our day was memorable. We had visited Paris before however we thoroghly recommend doing tours with Richard we saw tasted and experienced a side of Paris we would never have done without his expert help Roaming Paris with Richard is like meeting up with an old friend who delights in showing you the best of what he has discovered and wants you to experience it too! We combined two tours The Market tour and then we stopped for lunch together and then wandered The Marais To put it simply had the very best day ever.

As seen on Tripadvisor: Richard was wonderful. We did a walking tour of the Marais district, stopping at historical sites and quaint shops. My only regret is that we didn’t book a full day. Definitely could have used more time. His knowledge and friendliness was amazing.

As seen on Tripadvisor: My husband and I did a 3 hour walking tour in early October, 2014 with Richard around the Marais area of Paris. We enjoyed every minute. It was a nice casual stroll around a large area stopping off at interesting buildings where Richard told us the history of the place and of the previous owners (famous or infamous!). We loved seeing the hidden face of Paris hidden behind the facades and high walls. Stopped at a few shops and my favourite shop would have to be Puyricard Chocolates.

Thank you Richard for such a wonderful tour through the area of Marais! The four of us (which includes 3 Brooklyn natives) were promptly greeted and guided through numerous historical landmarks along with an amazing selection of unique shops and bakeries. My 81 yr old mother in law was with us and needed to walk at a slower pace which made this tour fantastic as she was not rushed! Richard let her take as much time as she needed to explore several shops along the way. He also brought us to an award winning bakery to sample some of the best sweets ever! This was our first time in Paris and hoping to come back very soon– and will definately book another tour with Richard!!

Your visit to Paris wouldn’t be complete without a personal tour with Richard Nahem of Eye Prefer Paris Tours … As we were staying in St Germaine we asked Richard to design a 2 – 3 hour walking tour of the wine & food and art & crafts highlights in this amazing area of Paris. We were delighted with how many delightful establishments he was able to introduce us to. His knowledge of the area was impressive and also the fact that he was a chef & chocolatier in his past life he was even able to bring us to the very best boutique chocolatiers of Paris – we even had tastings ! Even on a rainy day we were able to wander through this neighbourhood and learn about the best restaurants, cafes, and specialty food shops which make Paris the food lovers heaven ! We both had a very special time with Richard on his Paris Tour and can highly recommend the experience to you on your next visit … Plan ahead though as he is in high demand.
