Trip Info

Machu Picchu is the best known of the Inca ruins, as it is recognized worldwide, yet it is not mentioned in any of the writings of the Spanish Conquistadors. It is believed to have been constructed around the mid-15th century and was “rediscovered” by American historian Hiram Bingham in 1911.

For those with limited time or who are just passing by Cusco and want to at list see one of the modern Seven Wonders of the World, this tour is perfect.

We can pick you up from your hotel at 4:00 AM to take you by private transport to Ollantaytambo where you take the train at 6:40 AM to Machu Picchu, arriving in Aguas Calientes or machu Picchu town around 8:10 AM, passing from the Andes to the cloud forest close to the jungle at 2000 meters above sea level. If you want to go a little later this is possible catching a train at 7:42 AM from Poroy station and arriving at around 10:51 AM. Our Green Peru Adventures tour guide will meet you at the train station and take you to the bus terminal, where you will be transferred to the majestic citadel of Machu Picchu.

You will be guided around the citadel for 2.5 hours and afterwards you will have extra time to explore Machu Picchu by yourself. To return to Cusco we have a few different options, but we do recommend taking the train in the late afternoon, so you can enjoy your day in Machu Picchu and the sub-tropical lands (even you can visit the hot springs of Aguas Calientes).
