Trip Info

This is a newly explored trekking destination in eastern Nepal. The trek offers some of the most spectacular Himalayan landscapes along with cultural diversity as the trekking route is home to different ethnic groups like the Limbu, Sherpa, Rai, Gurung, Magar, Newar and Tamang. While on this trek, trekkers can explore the traditional farming practices, see different birds and wildlife species, including the endangered snow leopard and red panda if lucky enough.

The trek route passes through Kanchenjunga Conservation Area (KCA) and Makalu Barun National Park in the eastern Himalaya giving trekkers an opportunity to explore these two of Nepal’s best preserved and protected areas, and then finally to the Lumba Sumba pass (5200 m) passing through different climatic zones. The scenery along the trek route encompasses dense temperate and sub-tropical forests, low river valleys, rocky outcrops, alpine grass lands, and high snow capped peaks. Besides natural beauty, trekkers can also explore cultural heritages like monasteries, chortens, temples and prayer walls during the trek.
