Explore roads less travelled in comfortable, air-conditioned coach and experience all the scenic magic of touring New Zealand. Experience Maori culture and geothermal delights in world-famous Rotorua. At Lake Tarawera, and on a farm in mid-Canterbury, you’ll enjoy private lunches with your Kiwi hosts. Visit Tongariro, Abel Tasman and Mount Cook National Park before exploring Milford Sound with a cruise and special scenic flight.
On arrival to Auckland, you will be met and transferred to your waterside hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure to explore the City of Sails.
The next day, we start our multi activity tour with a drive over Auckland’s Bombay Hills and across the Hauraki Plains. We stop at the beautiful Karangahake Gorge, pass the Bay of Plenty region and reach Lake Rotoiti for a luxury sail to geothermal hot pools.
In the morning, relax or enjoy one of Rotorua’s many attractions. We drive to Lake Tarawera for a private lunch at Pounamu Lodge. Later, we drive back to town for a little more leisure time.
The next day, our small group heads to Wai-O-Tapu, a geothermal landmark. We visit Huka Falls and at Taupo, we stop to see the three active volcanoes of Tongariro, Ngauruhoe and Ruapehu. The World Heritage Tongariro National Park is our destination and the wonderful Chateau Tongaririo Hotel for overnight.
Leaving behind the geothermal region of the North Island, we head to Napier for a walking tour. We also tour Hawkes Bay’s orchards, farms and vineyards before driving to Te Mata Peak for fantastic views. We return to Napier to explore more of this unique town.
In the morning, we head south through farmlands, plains of the Wairarapa, farming towns of Norsewood and Dannevirke before arriving in Greytown. We continue through the Rimutaka Range to Wellington for a tour and overnight stay.
This morning, we catch the Interislander ferry to cruise for three hours across Cook Strait into Tory Channel and up beautiful Queen Charlotte Sound to Picton. We enjoy a wine tasting before driving up to the mountains and St. Anaud before retiring for the night at Nelson.
Today, you have a choice of a full scenic cruise or a cruise and walk along the beautiful Abel Tasman coastline. After your cruise or walk, we return to Nelson.
In the morning, we leave Nelson and drive through the vineyard landscapes to reach the wild coastal road hugging the cliffs between the Pacific Ocean and the Kaikoura Ranges. Your afternoon is free to take part in excursions such as swimming with seals and dolphins, whale watching cruise and flight or stroll to Kean Point to see the seal colony.
The next day, we continue down the coast before we head inland to the Akaunui Farm homestead. Enjoy a private lunch and an introduction to the delights of the mid-Canterbury region courtesy of hosts Di and Ian Mackenzie. Tonight, we stay in a valley surrounded by mountains.
We awake at the foot of Mount Cook, New Zealand’s highest mountain. Take an optional boat cruise to the Tasman Glacier or scenic flight. Later, we drive through the Mackenzie Basin and Lindis Pass to Queenstown. On arrival, we ride the Skyline Gondola to the top of Bob’s Peak for a scenic overview of this beautiful resort town.
In the morning, we travel to Lake Te Anau and Milford Sound, in the heart of Fiordland National Park. We will cruise down Milford Sound, a majestic fiord lined with waterfalls and dominated by iconic Mitre Peak. We return to Queenstown on an amazing scenic flight over the Southern Alps and across Lake Wakatipu.
Enjoy a full day to experience a magnificent resort with adventure activities in all forms from extreme to relaxed exploration. We recommend a jet boat ride on the remote Dart River in the Lord of the Rings scenery, whitewater rafting adventure or a cruise on the lake on a vintage steamer. Take a wine tour to sample Central Otago’s renowned pinot noir.
Today, your New Zealand vacation comes to an end. After breakfast, you will be transferred to Queenstown airport for your flight home.
