Your trip actually begins before arrival, as your flight to Bhutan will provide amazing views of the Himalayan scenery. Whether flying along the Himalayan range from Kathmandu or over the foothills from Kolkata, it is an unbelievable journey. Once you arrive at Paro airport, you will be met by your driver and transferred to Thimphu, the modern capital town of Bhutan. Enjoy a free evening after dinner and overnight at the hotel in Thimphu.

In the morning, discover why Thimphu is perhaps the most unusual capital city in the world. It comprises of the seat of government, Bhutan’s royal family, the civil service and foreign missions representatives. We will visit Tashichhodzong, which houses the throne room of His Majesty, the King. We will also go to the National Library, the Institute for Zorig Chusum, the National Institute of Traditional Medicine and the National Memorial Chorten. Explore the government-run handicrafts emporium and privately owned crafts shops. Visit the Folk Heritage and National Textile Museums and drive over Dochu-la Pass to Punakha. We will have an overnight stay at the hotel in Punakha.

The next day will see a stop at Punakha Dzong, which houses many sacred and historic artifacts. We then travel to Wangduephodrang, the last town on the highway before entering central Bhutan. Enjoy a visit at the local market to experience the local culture and taste traditional foods. After lunch, we drive to Paro, visiting Semtokha Dzong along the way. Check into your hotel upon arrival to Paro.

In the morning, we visit Ta Dzong, which was once a watchtower. We then walk to Rinpung Dzong, which has a long and fascinating history. After lunch, we drive to the ruins of Drukgyel Dzong and continue to Kyichu Lhakhang, one of the oldest and most sacred shrines of the kingdom. We will spend the evening with a local family before retiring to your hotel for the night.

After breakfast, you will be transferred to Paro airport for your flight.
