Day one begins with a drive to Machame Gate in the village of Machame Chagga for a picnic. After, we start the trekking tour through a dense forest of giant ferns and begonias ficus. As the altitude changes, so does the vegetation as the rainforest gives way to tall grasses. We will stay at our camp near Machame Camp at 3,000 meters.
In the morning, we leave the camp with a wonderful view of Uhuru. We trek through tall grass savannah, volcanic rocks and heather whiskers lichen along a steep path. We pass through a ghostly landscape of volcanic lava, caves and streams until the top. The Shira Camp is at 3,840 meters.
After breakfast, we head to Kibo with a steady climb until we stop for acclimatization. We head to Barranco Camp at the edge of a huge canyon. The camp is at 3,950 meters. To achieve Barafu Camp at 4,600 meters, we will have impressive views. After a long journey up and down the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro, and a break for lunch in the Karanga Valley, we ascend to the camp.
We are at it again at midnight as we wind on the slopes to the foot of glaciers of Ratzel and Rebmann. The slope is steep and zig zag. After six hours of walking, we arrive at the crater rim from the point Stella and Hans Mayer. It should also be a one-hour walk on the ridge, usually snowy, volcano to reach the summit of Uhuru peak at 5,895 meters. We will rest before heading to Mweka Camp.
The next day, we have a direct descent to the gate of the park. We walk downhill through the forest as the first day. Diplomas will be awarded to those who reach the top. You will be transferred to the airport.
