Trip Info

Travel at the pace of Africa on this 16 day camping & cycling tour from Nairobi (Kenya) to Dar es Salaam (Tanzania); experience the people, culture, wildlife and landscapes of this amazing continent. Using remote back roads and visiting local families and villages along the way – our route varies from the chaos of Nairobi city to the sudden sparseness of open savannah with wildlife grazing the plains. We pass beneath the imposing Mt Kilimanjaro, visit Amboseli National Park in Kenya, the Ngorongoro Crater the cool mountain rain forested Usambara Mountains and ultimately the tropical Indian Ocean coast.

Your adventure awaits!

Escape Adventures Ltd

Established in 1999. Our full time passion is creating and leading adventurous cycle tours in stunning and interesting locations around the world. We are driven by the reward that comes with creating and leading tours that will touch your soul and stay in your memory forever. Whether you join us on an one of our challenging mountainous cycle tours, or one of our more laid back tropical cycle tours the underlying philosophies that guide us how our trip is created are the same… All our tours are our own tours: We research, plan, test and lead all of our own cycle tours. We do not contract our tours out to a third party ground operator. What we do, where we go and how we get there are fundamental. We love the challenge of finding the most interesting cycling routes and destinations. We know the places we go intimately, have found the quirks and have nurtured relationships along the way so that you can truly immerse yourself in the remarkable places we visit. All our cycle tours are led by two of our own wonderful New Zealand based Escape Adventures leaders. We pride ourselves on the calibre and resourcefulness of these great people who you will be spending your holiday with. Our leaders are all Emergency First Aid trained (PHEC), passionate about biking and the outdoors, great foodies, bike fixer-uppers and they are focused on making sure that your cycle tour is a fun, safe adventure of a lifetime. All of our tours also have a wonderful local support team - an interpreter and drivers who are your first hand source of local knowledge and culture. Our groups really are small: You will join a fun bunch of 6-12 bikers from around the world and will travel as relaxed, fun and intimate group that feels like a 'bunch of mates on tour'. Our personalized groups are small enough to integrate into local communities without taking over and mean that we can offer the best of ourselves and pay attention to the little things that make a difference. Real Adventures, Real People in Real Places. Real adventure contains an element of the unknown. Because we travel to less travelled places, visit and stay with local families and include trips into wilderness environments the unexpected will happen! It is our aim to provide you with as many unique opportunities as possible and let you have your own unique personal encounter. The Natural Environment. We are personally committed to minimizing our impact on the environment. By supporting local accommodations, restaurants and small businesses we make a direct and real contribution to the economies of the areas we visit. We believe in taking time to think about how our actions can benefit or how they impact the people, communities, economies, environments and eco-systems we visit, and then use this to make a difference (or sometimes more appropriately – how we can NOT make a difference).
