Trip Info

This sightseeing tour will show you some of Kathmandu’s best areas and things to see. The hills of Nagarkot have been terraced beautifully. Considered as the best viewpoint spot to enjoy the magnificent sunrise and sunset with spectacular Himalayan vistas, Nagarkot commands one of the broadest views of the snow capped Himalayas in the Kathmandu valley (8 Himalayan ranges of Nepal out of 13 from here).

Bhaktapur Durbar Square is bigger and more stately than the name suggests – your guide can provide insight into the area and bring you to some of its more unique spots such as the Bhairava Nath Temple; which is dedicated to the god of terror and death: Bhairava. Equally interesting is the Nyatapola Temple: Nyatapola in Newari language means five stories — the symbolic of five basic elements. This is the highest pagoda of Nepal ever built with such architectural perfection and artistic beauty.

A part of this square was built in the 15th century; be sure to ask your guide which part! Another interesting feature of this area is the Lion’s Gate: The magnificent and beautiful gate was produced from artisans whose hands were cut off after finishing touch to them by the envious Bhadgoun king so that no more of such masterpiece would be produced again. Reminiscent of Ivan the Terrible of Moscow, Russia! (He did the same.)

The people who produced these magnificent monuments sure lived in interesting times… find out more on this trip from your guide and those you may meet.

Price For The Trip: The total cost for the trek or tour you decide you want
to do will depend on several different factors. The type of accommodation
you prefer in Kathmandu will make a difference to the overall cost (budget
to 5 star accommodations). The mode of transport you prefer will also affect
the cost of your package, for example prices vary greatly between flying
versus private car/van, tourist or local buses. The camping trek and
teahouse trek made a difference in the cost. The number of guides and
porters required will also affect the total cost of your trek. For these
reasons, the same trek / tour can vary in price quite substantially.
