Join your qualified tour guide for a heritage – history tour of the old and fascinating city of Jerusalem. Start with a visit to the tomb of King David, the thousand-year-old building that houses the Tomb of King David on Mount Zion.
Walk along the Cardo, the ancient Roman road and visit the four Sephardic synagogues restored after the 1967 war in the Jewish quarter. Next visit the Davidson center where visitors are able to interactively explore the Herodian Temple Mount reconstruction using a supercomputer; the images used to build the panoramas shown here were taken during a real-time session with the model. Visit the Western Wall (Wailing Wall), the last remnant of the Temple in Jerusalem and then tour the Western Wall Tunnels and learn a fascinating lesson in Jewish history.
Following this, we will walk through the local colorful and lively Arab Market to David’s Tower museum to see the ancient remains of the fortress of the city. The Museum is most definitely the best way to present Jerusalem’s wonderful story.
Leaving the Old City through the famous Jaffa gate, we will continue on to visit Ammunition Hill which is the official memorial site symbolizing the liberation and reunification of Jerusalem, and was once a Jordanian army stronghold, conquered by the Israeli army in the Six Day War.
From there, we drive on to “Mea Shearim” to see the unique lifestyle of the ultra orthodox communities or visit Yemin Moshe which was the first Jewish neighborhood built outside the walls of the Old City. In fact, it was the first area of Jewish settlement in Jerusalem outside the Old City walls.
A city tour is started with a drive by the Knesset, Israel’s Parliament; see the huge Menorah which the British Parliament gave to Israel in 1956 with the biblical emblem.
Next stop is the Israel Museum and the new Holy Land model – a miniature replica of Jerusalem as it was during the second temple period. See the Shrine of the book, where the Dead Sea scrolls are housed. Continuing our drive to mount Hertzel, where the central military cemetery is located and Yad Vashem, Israel’s main Holocaust remembrance and education center is situated.
Your adventure awaits!
