Day 1 – 2: Sacred Valley of the Inca

  • Day 1: ¡Bienvenidos a Perú! Enjoy your first taste of Peruvian cuisine at an authentic, family-owned restaurant in the countryside, then continue to a scenic overlook where Quechuan women gather to display hand- made textiles, pottery, and traditional wares. Settle in Ollantaytambo, a charismatic mountain town at the base of an Inca fortress.
  • Day 2: Caravan to the peak of Abra Malaga for a view of the entire valley, then choose the paved road or the rugged mountain bike trails to ride past majestic ruins and farm families still living in the age-old tradition of the Inca.

Day 3 – 4: Culture & Outdoor Adventure

  • Day 3: Whisper from the center of an Inca amphitheater and be amazed as your counterparts hundreds of feet above hear you with ease, then tour a natural salt mine where the ingenious harvesting methods of the ancestors are still practiced by Peruvian families today.
  • Day 4: Experience the Patacancha Valley where a multi- generational Quechuan team reveals the secrets of the traditional wares they’ve created by hand for centuries, then embark on optional excursions such as whitewater rafting or painting with local artists.

Day 5 – 8: Inca Trail to Machu Picchu

  • Day 5: Guided by a Peruvian friend of Thrive Adventures, himself a descendant of the Inca and a multilingual expert on the region, begin the famed Inca Trail trek by crossing a picturesque footbridge over the Urubamba River.
  • Day 6: Rise to a delivery of hot tea outside your tent, and a hot, delicious breakfast prepared by your Peruvian team. Pause for stunning photos at the highest elevation of the trek.
  • Day 7: Hot tea and breakfast greet you again, and this day holds a variety of epic locales, including a cliffside castle inhabited by llamas, a gargantuan terraced farm, and a mountain temple with a glorious view of the Andes.
  • Day 8-9: Enter the Sun Gate at dawn for one of the Earth’s most stunning vistas, then spend the morning touring the Sun Temple, the Room of the Three Windows, and all the beauty of the Incas’ most sacred site. Later, spend a relaxing afternoon and evening in Aguas Calientes with natural hotsprings, outdoor cuisine down each cobblestone street, and local artisans showcasing traditional talent.

Day 9 – 10: Ollantaytambo

  • Day 9 & 10: Take the scenic train to Ollantaytambo and enjoy time to experience this authentic, charming town. Tour the fortress outside your hotel window, relax in the rooftop sunshine, take a horseback tour or zipline above the Urubamba Valley, learn to paint with our skilled local friends, and discover the genuine Peruvian cuisine and artistry of the villagers.

Day 11: Lima & Celebration Dinner

  • Day 11: Catch a short flight to Lima and celebrate in high-style at a gorgeous seaside eatery, raising your glass to an incredible journey!
