Immerse yourself in the magic of Morocco! Learn about Morocco’s rich history by visiting its imperial cities, Embrace the culture as your explore the medinas and bustling souks, visit a variety of heritage sites which allow you to peer into the history of Morocco, and drive through the majestic High Atlas Mountains.
Day 1: Casablanca – Rabat
Upon your arrival, you will be met at the airport. We will travel to Hassan II Mosque and then take off to the capital, Rabat, where you will check in at your hotel. Drop off your bags, freshen up and get ready to discover Rabat! Stroll around the medina and get a feel of the Moroccan everyday life.
Day 2: Rabat – Meknes – Roman Ruin of Volubilis – Fes
Enjoy your breakfast and then get ready to tour the major attractions of Rabat. We will kick the day off by visiting the Hassan Tower, followed by the Mausoleum of Mohammed V and his son Hassan II, the former king and father of the current king. We will make are way to the 12th century Kasbah Udayah, which was once the departure point for armies leaving for the Spain conquest in the 18th century as well as a gathering place for pirates.
After visiting Rabat, we will make our way to Meknes, the place of Bab Mansour, the largest gate in North Africa. We will stop at the shrine of Moulay Ismail, built in the 18th century. Moulay Ismail, a tyrant king, was the founder of Meknes. After lunch overlooking the ramparts, we will continue to the 1200 year old medina of Fes, with a brief stop at the Roman Ruins of Volubilis.
Day 3- Fes
We will go on a walking tour through the medina of Fes. Fes, the world’s best-preserved ancient Islamic city, is an unmissable experience on any visit to Morocco. Visit the authentic medina with its labyrinth of medieval twisting alleys, mosques, shrines, fountains and markets.
We will explore areas such as the Jewish Quarter, Mellah, the Royal Palace, the 17th century medrasas (schools), and the Seffarine Square.
Day 4: Fes – Cedar Forest of Azrou – Ziz Valley – Erfoud
We will begin the day driving south towards the Sahara Desert by crossing the Middle Atlas Mountains. Your lungs will love the pure air that flows from the cedar forests! We will see barbary apes and make stops to take pictures of the panoramic views. We will drive through Ziz Valley, see palm groves and the Tafilalet oasis before finally arriving in Erfoud.
Day 5: Sahara excursion – Camel Trek – Berber Tent
We will learn about the life of the Nomads as we embark on an off-road excursion to the breathtaking Erg Chebbi. You may recognize this area from movies such as Sex and the City 2 and The Mummy. We will attend an African folkloric musical and dance performance in Khamlia village and walk through an authentic souk in Rissani. Later in the afternoon, we will mount camels for a camel ride into the desert, where we will spend the night in a tent. This is the highlight of many people’s Moroccan experience.
Day 6: Desert – Toudra Gorges – Boumalen Dades
Depart via the ancient desert town of Rissani, heading to the Toudra Gores. We will walk through the Todra Gorges along the river. Marvel at the panoramic views of the old mud Berber villages which overlook the valley. After lunch under a 600 foot high red cliff, a popular cliff for rock climbing, we will embark on a scenic drive through the Boumalen Dades.
Day 7: Rose Town – Soura – Ouarzazate – Kashbah Ait Ben Haddou – Marrakech
Start your day with a scenic drive through Kalaa, Magouna, and the Valley of One Thousand Kasbahs. Upon arriving in Skoura, we will visit the well-preserved Kasbah Ameridil. Our next stop is Ouarzazate, known as the Hollywood of Morocco, where we will visit the Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, also featured in many films. After lunch, we will drive to Marrakech via the High Atlas Mountains, one of the most scenic drives in all of Morocco
Day 8: Marrakech
You will be taken to all the must-see spots in Marrakech on a guided walking tour. With an English speaking guide leading the way, you will visit Menara Garden, several notable monuments such as the Koutoubia Minaret and the Saadian Tombs, a representation of Moorish architecture at its finest. We will visit a souk market before concluding the day with a cocktail at sunset, overlooking the bustling Jemaa El-Fnaa square.
Day 9: Casablanca
We will depart Marrakech for Casablanca. We will arrive in time for your departing flight.
