Trip Info

Visit Morocco’s Imperial cities and the infamous Sahara Desert on a six-day sightseeing excursion with a private tour guide. Beginning in Casablanca, this tour will take you to Fes, Azrou, Midelt, Errachidia, Merzouga, Todra Gorges, Dades Gorges, Ouarzazate and Marrakech.

On day one, your guide will pick you up from your accommodation in Casablanca to begin your journey. Visit the Hassan II Mosque, the largest out of Mecca, then venture on to Fes where you will spend the evening and night. The next day you’ll explore Fes and all it has to offer! In the morning visit the Old City, Medina, and it’s alleys. Visit the Jewish Quarter, the Mellah and the Royal Palace. Eat in a typical Moroccan restaurant before visiting the tombs and discovering beautiful panoramic views of the city.

After breakfast on the third day, leave Fes and travel toward Ifrane, referred to as the “Switzerland of Morocco”. During this journey, you’ll see glimpses of the Middle and High Atlas Mountains. Stop at Azrou, a Berber village in the middle of the famous cedar forest. Travel through the Tizi Ntalghamt Pass to Midelt and along the magnificent Ziz Gorges carved through volcanic rock. Drive through the welcoming Berber villages to Erfoud and then Rissani before arriving to Merzouga.

Your day in the Merzouga area will begin with a luxurious breakfast. Then you’ll start your exploration of the area. First, visit the Gnawa people in their village Khamlia. Learn about the Gnawa music and lifestyle. Next, visit the old city of Rissani. Here you’ll learn about the foundation of the Alaouite dynasty, the current ruling royal family in Morocco. Rissani has a big souk, or open market, held three times a week. Walk through the souk packed with spices, vegetables and cloths before driving back to Merzouga. The camels await you back in the city and you’ll explore the sand sea of Merzouga behind an experienced camel man. Set up tent and stay the night in the desert.

Early the next morning, the camel man will wake you up to watch what may be the best sunrise you’ve ever seen in your life. Have breakfast in the nomad tent then camel-trek back to Merzouga. En-route you won’t fail to appreciate the unique beauty of the spectacular Erg Chebbi dunes changing with the light as the day progresses. After another, larger breakfast head toward Todra Gorges, the highest and most narrow gorge in Morocco. Drive through the Dades Valley to see the majestic sand castles and amazing rock formations known as “monkey toes”.

On your sixth and final day of your amazing journey, leave the Dades Valley to Ouarzazate. This route is the way of the thousand Kasbahs, offering numerous photography opportunities. Stop in the Rose City to purchase rose water and continue to Marrakech, where your journey will end as you pass the High Atlas Mountains through the majestic Tizi n’Tichka Pass.

Your adventure awaits!
