Trip Info

This tour exposes you to the horror of Apartheid while at the same time showing what is being done to build a new and vibrant South Africa. The spirit of the people is the pulse of Cape Town. It helps the visitor to understand some of the complexities of South Africa, where she was and where she is heading.

Discover the multicultural side of Cape Town and interact with the locals. From District Six where the forced removals changed lives of many people to informal settlements where traditional healers and shebeens add to the rich culture of the township life.

Your tour starts from District Six museum, through colorful Bo-Kaap where you may stop…. and have tea and koeksisters, butter biscuits, hertzogies or any of the delights that the Cape Malay introduced as part of their culture. You may want to stop at the Oldest Mosque, called the Awal Mosque and visit the small Malay museum which depicts the way of life when they first arrived. Afterwards you proceed to a Township situated far from the city. Here you will visit a shebeen, a traditional healer and also have the opportunity to purchase local arts and crafts. Visit a home of one of the locals.

The afternoon or morning tour can be combined with a Robben Island tour. Robben Island a world heritage site famous for being the prison of previous president Nelson Mandela; remarkable man who stood the test of time and liberated its people through his dedication in educating himself and who found an inner wisdom within this prison to lead his people on his release. Daily trips depart from the Waterfront which takes about three and a half hours tour. Former political prisoners act as guides on the island..
