Trip Info

Come join us for a really cool run of the historic railroad tunnels trail, which is a small portion of the 30-mile-long River Mountains trail system. If the history doesn’t impress you, then the 300′ long and 25′ tall tunnels, views of the lake, valleys & peaks will. This tunnel trail follows the elevated RR bed used to haul supplies used in construction of Hoover Dam from 1931 – 1935. The tracks continued in use until 1961, dismantled in 1962, and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1984. This wide gravel trail suits all levels and is a great introduction to trail running.  The 5th tunnel, which opened in 2001, goes all the way to Hoover Dam. Bring your water bottle and hat on this one.
