Trip Info
The island of Tavolara is a majestic limestone mountain that rises 565 meters above the sea. It’s a pearl of Gallura, located in the strait of a sea that is among the most spectacular in all of the Mediterranean. Tavolara appears like a mountain fallen from the sky; it remains suspended between the blue sea and the white clouds. Reaching Tavolara, we’ll visit the beach of Spalmatore di Terra, up to its narrow isthmus. Later, we’ll make our way to the summit of the island.
After one and a half hours of hiking, we’ll reach a place called “Sa Conca Duriata.” From this incredible, natural terrace, we’ll enjoy incredible views over the Gulf of Olbia. “Sa Conca Duriata” is easily accessible by everyone, but the summit of the island is reachable only by using via ferrata or ropes. Both methods require using a harness and a via ferrata kit.
Although you should use technical equipment, the level of difficulty is suitable for anyone who is minimally trained, with no fear of heights (dizziness). For participants who don’t feel confident to face via ferrata, they should wait with the group in “Sa Conca Duriata.”
After using ropes or via ferrata, we’ll reach Punta Cannone, the top of the island. The top of the island offers panoramic views that extend from Capo Coda Cavallo to the Gulf of Olbia, until Corsica and Strait of Bonifacio. Unbelievable!
