Discover the beauty of the landscape on this heritage tour of the Highland Capital, a castle and cathedral. You will learn the history of the region as you visit where Saint Columba traveled to the Pictish King to claim a new Christianity around 550 AD.
We will begin the tour seeing how the influence of Oliver Cromwell, and the British army, transformed the town from Jacobite times. We will pass the Tomnahurich Hill to Loch Ness. A tour of the Urquhart Castle will highlight the history of the monster legend myth. You can even try spotting the mystery creature for yourself.
The Highlands terrain will be great to explore as the natural way of the Caledonian Canal reaches from coast to coast with the help of the Lochs. From here, we can return by passing the Fort Augustus and the South Shore. This avenue will include a visit to the Falls of Foyers. Another option is to continue on our north path to Culnakirk Hill and through Beauly. The 13th century influence is very evident in this region.
Our tour will top off with a visit to the Glen Ord Distillery with a tasty treat.
