On this full-day guided tour of Hanoi you will get a local’s insight into Vietnam’s mythology, traditions, and customs, visit cultural and historical sites.

Following a pick-up at your hotel by your guide and driver you’ll head to the Ho Chi Minh Complex to discover the heart of Vietnam at Uncle Ho’s mausoleum. Standing before the mausoleum are 79 cycad trees, symbolizing Ho Chi Minh’s 79 springs of life, while 2 bamboo ranges whistle in the wind to commemorate the former president and father of the nation. See the nearby house on stilts and the quaint 1-Pillar Pagoda, built out of wood for the 11th-century Emperor Lý Thái Tông. Continue to the Quan Thanh Taoist Temple, one of the 4 sacred temples in Hanoi.

Continue your tour with a visit to the Temple of Literature, the site of Vietnam’s first university, dating back to 1070 and originally built as a temple to Confucius. Inside you’ll see stone turtles, with steles mounted on their backs, with the names of Vietnam’s most important scholars inscribed. The temple highlights the importance that Vietnamese society has placed on education both now and in the past.

After enjoying a break for lunch and some local favorite dishes, you’ll explore the vibrant eastern sector of Hanoi. See the Museum of History, Hoan Kiem Lake, Ngoc Son Temple, and Huc Bridge. From there we will journey by eco-car into the Old Quarter and mingle with locals as they go about their hectic lives.

As your tour ends you’ll take in a unique water puppet show, experiencing an art form conceived by Vietnamese peasants hundreds of years ago.
