Trip Info

The French explorer Emmanuel de Martonne has named Fagaras Mountains, the Alps of Transylvania. It is a stretch of peaks, holes and saddles. If you come to Romania for a mountain trip, Fagaras Mountains will offer you everything you want. It offers high difficulty level tours, which will put your skills at work, unique landscapes, glacial doms, alpine lakes and out of range flora and fauna.

From the start point of Sibiu city, we trek to Sebesu de Jos and Suru Chalet, where we’ll stay overnight in a tent or chalet, depending on weather conditions. In the morning, we head to Avrig Lake and Negoiu Chalet for the overnight on this trekking tour. On the third day, we see Shepherd Gorge, Refugee Caltun and stay at Bilea Chalet.

The next day, we will do a circle to Bilea Lake, Bilea Waterfall and return to Bilea Chalet. On the fifth day, we trek to Capra Chalet before returning for another night stay. In the morning, we travel to Lake Capra, Dragon’s Pane, Podragului Valley and finally to Chalet Podragu for an overnight stay.

The seventh day will see us cover Podragu Chalet, Vistea Mare, Moldoveanu, Ucea Mare, Peak Galasescu Little, Simbata Window and Chalet Simbata. We’ll stay overnight in a tent or chalet, depending on weather conditions. We will enjoy a day of rest on the next day. We will have a campfire and party.

On the ninth day, we descend on the Simbata Valley and Simbata before returning to Sibiu.
