This itinerary starts with half a day sightseeing in Kathmandu and preparation for your trek in the afternoon. Next day you will take a spectacular mountain flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, and proceed by foot to the small village of Phakding. After an acclimatisation day in Namche Bazar, the cultural and economic heart of the Everest region, this trip embarks to the wonderful and unspoiled Gokyo Valley. Several turkoois mountain lakes in Gokyo are the source of the grand Dudh Koshi River. The majestic Ngojumba Glacier is the biggest glacier in the world. From the renowned view point of Gokyo Ri you will have an unforgettable view of Everest. After a few nights in Gokyo valley you will cross the famous Cho La pass (5420m) to the Khumbu valley with Kala Patthar, and of course Everest Base Camp. Mount Everest Base Camp (5364m) has been popular trekking destination since the trail first successful expeditions of Mount Everest Summit (8848 meter) on May 29th, 1953 by Sir Edmund Hilary and Tenzing Norgay Sherpa (who is originally from this area). Witnessing a sunrise on Everest from Kala Patthar is a once in a lifetime experience. This trekking program offers the most beautiful spot sin Everest region, friendly Sherpas, colourful monasteries and prayer flags, and the natural beauty of the Sagarmatha National Park.
Everest Basecamp via Gokyo is graded as a difficult and challenging trek, which is only suitable for physically fit and experienced trekkers who don’t mind challenging hikes. Experienced trekkers who can walk at least 6-7 hours a day with a light backpack/rucksack can join this trek.
