“Excellent Everest Base Camp Trek! What a Journey (13 Days)”

After graduating, I wanted to do something that will be my ultimate travel and experience before start working, to go to the Everest Base Camp. so in short notice, I’ve been inquiring with several trekking companies but surprisingly Discovery World Trekking seemed the only company that responded well, fast and very excited of making my dream come true. After emailing and discussing plan and itinerary for the journey, everything went smooth and I was set to go! Unfortunately when I arrived at KTM airport, I didn’t received my checked-in luggage after hours of waiting. I went out to be greeted with Paul, the owner and founder of Discovery World Trekking alongside side with Dil. They helped me to sort things out with my missing luggage and provided me with an assistance until I received my luggage the next day. The hotel I was staying was Tibet Guest House it was amazing and very comfortable! throughout the journey, Dil who was my guide has become a very good company and friend. He took care of me very well, attentive in every detail and I couldn’t be more than happier to trek with him. He knows the route well, telling me about the stories and cultures, the people, food and so many things! He is the person, a friend and a guide that you would want to travel with! All through the journey the experience was great! the teahouses that we stayed was very comfortable, clean and nice! Especially after hours of trekking I bet you will be looking forward to that! Food was excellent and I could pick anything from the menu, that was a privilege on how one should enjoy the journey. 13 days of trekking Paul kept in touch with me and Dil, asking how everything went, motivating me and I felt looked after all throughout the trek and afterwards! If you’re looking for a reputable, friendly, fun, enthusiastic and professional trekking company in Nepal, I would highly recommend Discovery World Trekking, they win in so many aspect, they did volunteering with the Discovery Channel in fact you would want to and will be helping a local operator especially because Nepal is recovering post earthquake. Im looking forward to trek with Discovery World trekking in the future especially with Paul and Dil! I wish DWT team all the best and thank you so much, they are the best!

My friend and I decided to give ourselves a challenging rewarding experience and booked in our trek from lukla, Nepal, up the Himalayas to reach Mt Everest base camp 6-10 months prior to departing Melbourne airport, Australia for Kathmandu airport, Nepal.

During our 6-10 months we trained regularly, we were kept well informed and had everything pre-organised leading up to departure day by Adrian Manikas owner of Impulse Adventures.

Adrian from Impulse adventures (Australia) works in conjunction with Paul Gurung, owner of Discovery World Trekking, (Nepal).

Upon arrival to Kathmandu we were greeted by Paul himself and our trekking guide Dil. Both were very welcoming from the start. We were driven from the airport to our hotel and settled in for the night.

A few days later we set off for our trek up the mountain. Right from our flight from ktm airport to lukla airport and our trek up to base camp and then back down as well as our flight back from lukla to ktm airport we were looked after with great care by Dil and our porter Cubi. We had nothing to worry about except for putting left infront of right and dealing with our own health. Highly recommend the care taken by those two all areas were covered. Dil is very knowledgable about many things related to the himalayas in general. He kept in constant contact with Paul throughout trip also. Given this was my friend and I’s first time at altitude we both very much appreciated this.

We both reached base camp (5334 above sea level) and as you’d expect were both very proud of the achievement. But, in saying that what really mattered to me was the experience trekking up the mountain which did not disappoint some of the scenery was absolutely breathtaking. Experiencing mountain people’ lives was an eye opener in itself. Very different from what we are both used to at home. Some lead physically very tough lives, many are very happy though with their basic way of living.

I highly recommend Paul and his DWT team to anyone thinking about undertaking such a rewarding, challenging experience in the himalayas.

Nepal is somewhere I had always wanted to travel, and it did not disappoint. We trekked to Mt Everest base camp before making an attempt on Island Peak. The whole trip was exceptionally well planned, thanks to Paul, and the team of local guides, Dil, Dol & Milan, were absolutely fantastic.
Dil, Dol & Milan were the ultimate guides, always greeting you with a smile, ensuring hot water was available for you in the mornings, the keys to your rooms were ready on arrival to the tea house and while walking, making sure to check in on how you were going. It was the little things that made the trip so enjoyable.
I can’t wait to get back to Nepal, to explore more of the breath taking scenery and experience more of the culture. When I get back there, it will definitely be with DWT.
If you have plans to travel to Nepal, seriously consider heading over with the team from DWT, they won’t disappoint!
