Essaouira excursion Marrakech: With its picture-postcard stone ramparts and turrets, and its almost perfectly preserved maze-like medina, Essaouira is the most popular of the Atlantic coastal towns. Inside the town walls, it is all light and charm, a labyrinth of narrow lanes, white washed houses, tranquil squares and artisans in tiny workshops. Many Europeans and artists, enchanted by the place, have invested in medina properties and an arty expat influence is evident throughout the town.
Essaouira was known at the time of 11th-century Geographer al-Bakri and, as he reported, was called Sidi Megdoul. In the 16th-century, a corruption of this name became known to the Portuguese as Mogador or Mogadore.
The Medina of Essaouira (Mogador) is a UNESCO World Heritage site, as an exemple of a late-18th century fortified town.
We invite you to discover Essaouira on an excursion from Marrakech city. We will pick you up from your hotel early morning, then return you there in the evening.
