Trip Info

To fully understand and get a sense of the culture, heritage and beauty of Kenya, take a journey through the heart of the country. On this excursion, you will visit a sanctuary, a sacred lake, a shrine and tribal villages. Some meals will be prepared by an accompanying chef and you will have a chance to sleep under the stars, or choose a cabin certain nights.

The beginning of the tour will be a spiritual one as you will begin at the Sanctuary of Nanyuki. Lunch will be served at a restaurant that is constructed inside a huge tree. A short trip to Meru will find the Nkunga Sacred Lake, which is surrounded by the Imenti forest and home to many birds, fish and elephants.

The next day will be spent exploring the plantations of Meru before heading to the buffalo reserve to observe various wildlife. Have your cameras ready to capture hippos, giraffes, gazelles, water buffalo, baboons and many other Samburu animals! That evening, you can rest at the Umoja Campsite where you can choose a cabin with all necessities or count the stars as you drift off to sleep outside.

Awake early to observe the wildlife grazing nearby before dawn breaks. During the safari, in another part of the reserve, you will see lions, cheetahs and leopards as well as other animals in their natural habitat. Once settled in the Samburu tribe village, you will have an opportunity to learn their way of life and traditions as we gather around a campfire.

After breakfast, you guide, along with a few tribesmen, will take you on a journey to meet members and visit their homes. The rest of the day will be a nature and wildlife safari at another reserve. You will have another opportunity to visit with the tribesmen when you return to the village for the night.

A trek to the summit of the Samburu sacred mountain, Monte Ololokwe, is an adventure of a lifetime! You will spend the night at the summit. In the morning, you will awake to a spectacular sunrise and forest view. On the way back to Nairobi, enjoy a picnic lunch at a beautiful waterfall spot – the perfect ending to a wonderful adventure!
