Trip Info

Just Short of Magic is a Dog Mushing School founded by the ever passionate educator and dog musher, Eleanor Wirts. However, the company doesn’t only offer dog mushing courses. For someone who wants to try out the sport, Just Short of Magic offers Dog Mushing Tours, where an eager team of Alaskan Huskies takes you into the snowy trails and wooded forest for a magnificent ride. During the ride, it’s not uncommon to see wildlife strewn about. Expect ptarmigan, spruce hens, moose, and snowshoe hare. Ravens often swoop along overhead to accompany the tour.

Dog Mushing Tours include Swing Dog Tour which costs $65 per person. This trip offers a 30 minute sled ride through spruce and birch woods. The Lead Dog Tour, which costs around $95 per Person, takes about an hour of riding through spruce and woods – which later on takes you up rolling hills and into thick forests. Last but not least, is the Mushing School Tour, where you will have the luxury of learning more about dog mushing, huskies, and mushing equipment. You will get to experience how to hook up the team, and how to drive them like a pro.
